The Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations and Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, held a gathering with William Blick, a consultant of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), on the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe.
Their discussions centered on alternatives for youth in sports activities and fostering human capital growth.
Mr. Blick, who has been an IOC member since 2018, is just the second Ugandan, following Maj. Gen. Francis Nyangweso, to carry this place throughout the IOC.
The main duty of IOC members is to advertise the IOC’s mission of making a greater world by means of sport. The IOC locations robust emphasis on youth training by means of athletics and oversees the Olympic Games, the world’s largest sporting occasion.
Gen. Kainerugaba has persistently highlighted the significance of sports activities in Uganda’s progress. Beyond advocacy, he has financially supported sports activities groups and undertaken initiatives to spice up morale on quite a few events.
For occasion, in 2021, he lined all bills for Uganda’s nationwide basketball workforce throughout their participation within the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 in Kigali, Rwanda. In 2019, he contributed Shs100 million towards the institution of the Joshua Cheptegei Training Camp in Teryet Sub-county, Kapchorwa District.
Recently, in September, he met Mathias Kiwanuka, a former NFL defensive finish who returned to Uganda to advertise American soccer. During this assembly, Gen. Kainerugaba dedicated to supporting Kiwanuka’s challenge. Kiwanuka, a grandson of Uganda’s first Prime Minister, Benedicto Kiwanuka, achieved two Super Bowl victories with the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII and XLVI.
