Songwriter, producer, and recording artist Daddy Andre has been at odds with Eddy Kenzo for over two years.
The disagreement started after the formation of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF). Andre believes the federation is a political software of the NRM authorities, aimed toward curbing Bobi Wine’s affect within the music trade.
Andre has now accused Kenzo of giving artists false hope concerning the copyright legislation. He claimed the federal government will not be concerned about amending the legislation.
“Musuuza just lately mentioned he was preventing for the copyright legislation. That’s a commendable effort, however he ought to know he isn’t the primary to advocate for this. I wish to inform him that he’s giving artists false hope as a result of the federal government will not be able to take the legislation to Parliament for modification,” Andre mentioned throughout an interview with a neighborhood tv station.
In early December, Kenzo revealed that the cupboard had already authorized the legislation and promised that it could quickly be delivered to Parliament, after which the President would signal it into legislation.
Artists, below Kenzo’s management, have spent over two years assembly with authorities officers on the UNMF workplaces, lobbying for amendments to the copyright legislation.
The copyright legislation was first launched to Parliament in 2022 by Hillary Kiyaga, also referred to as Dr. Hilderman, who’s the Shadow Minister of Culture. However, the federal government took over the method by means of the Uganda Law Reform Commission.
