For weeks, the Coffee Amendment Bill has dominated debates within the Ugandan parliament and among the many public.
The authorities of Uganda, by way of parliament, seeks to switch the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) into the Ministry of Agriculture. However, this transfer has confronted important resistance from the opposition and the Buganda cultural establishment.
The opposition and the Buganda Kingdom imagine that transferring the UCDA into the Ministry of Agriculture will weaken the espresso financial system and in the end result in its downfall.
King Saha has joined in condemning the federal government over this transfer, claiming that the financial system can be doomed in the event that they proceed with the rationalization of UCDA into the Agriculture Ministry.
He says espresso may observe the identical destiny as moringa, tobacco, cotton, and vanilla.
“Letter to our Leaders…
Dear Leaders,
It appears to be like like Uganda is shedding all of it… COFFEE has all the time been our primary money crop, our agricultural spine. If we permit it to observe the footsteps of moringa, tobacco, cotton, and vanilla, then we’re doomed.
Our leaders, the ball is in your arms.
God bless you, God bless Uganda,” he wrote.
